About us

Clerk has been developed by the team at F-One, a Frankfurt-based developer of AI-based process automation solutions. We needed a reliable and inexpensive document AI for our own product. We compared dozens of solutions and chose Google Document AI and Nanonets as the best-performing ones at that time. However, the labelling effort and the cost went up rapidly, while we had to accommodate for complex pre-processing and post-processing requirements.

Our frustration with existing solutions on the market lead us to develop our own document AI. We knew exactly what we needed and by early 2022, we had a working prototype that was able to process a wide range of documents with high accuracy and low training effort.

We have been using our Document AI internally to support increasingly complex automated processes, adding a classifier, neural memory and email AI capabilities. It has become a dependable component of our AI Freelancers supporting critical business applications. Clerk was born from that internal solution, which is why we are confident in its performance even for the most challenging use cases.

We decided to bring Clerk to the market for companies that face the same challenges as we did: setting up multiple business-critical document AI pipelines with focus on achieving a high straight-through processing rate and high accuracy, but without major labelling efforts and with predictable, usage-based pricing. It aims to be a dependable workhorse that is easy to integrate into existing processes, can be operated by the non-technical business users but at the same time offers a high degree of control to reach the STP targets.
